The output value will reach 6 billion! The second R&D and production base in the world! Da Vinci robot landed in Shanghai
Last Tuesday, Intuition Fosun, a joint venture between the United States Intuition Medical Device Company and Fosun Pharma, signed a contract with Zhangjiang Group to establish a Da Vinci surgical robot manufacturing and R&D base in Zhangjiang, Pudong. This means that the world's second manufacturing and R&D base for Da Vinci surgical robots after Silicon Valley in the United States is about to settle in China. The first phase of the base has an investment of 700 million yuan, and is expected to officially start in the first quarter of next year. After completion, the output value is expected to be nearly 6 billion yuan.

It is understood that 1/3 of the global robot production is currently in China, and Shanghai provides about 1/9 of the world’s robot production and is the largest robot industry cluster in my country. Zhong Min, Director of Government Affairs of Intuitive Fosun, said that the R&D and manufacturing of surgical robots require “high, sophisticated, and cutting-edge” talents. “These talents are actually difficult to recruit from other places, but Shanghai Zhangjiang has unique advantages.”
Zhangjiang Robot Valley lays out four major areas: robot research and development zone, intelligent manufacturing zone, commercial zone, and backup zone. Through the establishment of business incubation accelerators, innovation achievement transformation centers, construction of full-industry chain manufacturing bases, and commercial supporting service facilities, the ecosystem will continue to be strengthened and cultivated. The core robot enterprise is committed to becoming one of the regions with the strongest technological innovation level and the most complete industrial chain in the field of robotics in the country and even in the world.
Zhangjiang Robot Valley has a planned area of 3.9 square kilometers. It is estimated that 1 million square meters of robot industry development space will be formed during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, and the overall industrial scale of the robot industry will be 70 billion yuan. 150 core robot companies will be settled and become a robot with global influence.
